The Key Thoughts of Communion (1 Corinthians 11:17-34)

Communion (or "the Lord's table") is much more than a mystical ritual or boring practice. It is a continuous reminder of multiple key truths. The bread represents Jesus' sacrificial payment, but it also clearly illustrates our own required sacrificial service to one another. "We are one bread, one body," Paul teaches. In this study, we briefly overview the context of 1 Corinthians 11:17-34, and the context makes all the difference in how we should and must understand this often used but often misused passage.
